Use these instructions to configure your Windows 2000 based computer for Mymethow Internet's dial-up Internet service.
Step 1: Begin by clicking on the start button, scrolling up to "Settings". Scroll over and down to "Network and Dial-up Connections", and click on "Make New Connection".
Step 2: The Network Connection Wizard will appear on your screen. Click the "Next" button to continue.
Step 3: Make sure that "Dial-up to the Internet" is selected, then click "Next".
Step 4: The Internet Connection Wizard will appear on your screen. Select "I want to set up my Internet connection manually, or I want to connect through a local area network (LAN)," and click "Next"
Step 5: Make sure that "I connect through a phone line and modem" is selected, and continue by clicking "Next".
Step 6: Select the modem you would like to use to connect to MyMethow Internet in the drop-down dialog box. You will most likely have just one modem in your PC, so the default choice is probably the right one. Note: Your modem model may differ from what you see in the picture. This is normal, as there are many different modem manufacturers.
When you are ready, click "Next" to continue.
Step 7: Uncheck the "Use area code and dialing rules" box, and enter Mymethow's access number into the "Telephone number" dialog box. Our access number is 997-2448. Type the number in exactly as you see it, with no spaces.
Click the "Next" button to continue.
Step 8: Enter the username and password you were given when you signed up into their appropriate dialog boxes. The username and password are case-sensitive, so you need to enter them exactly as they read on your sign-up sheet. Note: For security reasons, Windows will not display your password as you type it. Instead, you will see stars in place of the characters, so you must make sure to type it in correctly.
Click the "Next" button to continue.
Step 9: Here you will specify a name for the connection that you are creating. You may type whatever you would like. However, we strongly recommend that you put "mymethow" here, as it will make it easier to identify the connection later.
Click the "Next" button to continue.
Step 10: Select "Yes" here when it asks you if you would like to set up your mail account, then click "Next" to continue.
Step 11: If your computer has never been configured for an internet connection, or is new, you will not see the next screen, and may skip ahead to Step 12
If you do see the next screen, please select "Create a new Internet mail account", then click "Next"
Step 12: Here you should enter your name as you would like it to be displayed on your outgoing e-mail messages. This can be your full name, an abbreviation, your family name or maybe just your first name. It's up to you.
Click "Next" when you are done.
Step 13: Enter in your e-mail address. This address is your given username with the suffix "@mymethow.com". See the image for an example.
Click the "Next" button to continue.
Step 14: In this step, you will enter the addresses of Mymethow's mail servers. Leave "POP3" selected in the drop-down box. In the first dialog box, you should enter mail.mymethow.com. In the second, enter mail.mymethow.com. Please make sure that these are in all lower case, and have no spaces in them.
Click the "Next" button to continue.
Step 15: You will now need to enter your username and password for your mymethow e-mail address. This will be the same username and password that you used earlier to configure the dial-up connection. The username and password are case-sensitive, so you need to enter them exactly as they read on your sign-up sheet. Leave the other options here the defaults. Note: For security reasons, Windows will not display your password as you type it. Instead, you will see stars in place of the characters, so you must make sure to type it in correctly.
Click the "Next" button to continue.
Step 16: Please uncheck the "Connect immediately" option on this page, and click on the "Finish" button.
Step 17: You should now be back at your desktop. Double-click on the blue "Internet Explorer" icon. If Internet Explorer asks you to dial any connections, click the "Cancel" button.
Step 18: Internet Explorer should now be open. Find the "Tools" menu at the top of the screen and click on it. Scroll down to "Internet Options" and click on it.
Step 19: You should now see the Internet Options window on your screen. Please enter http://www.mymethow.com into the first dialog box on this window. This will set your home page to Mymethow's website.
Step 20: At the top of the Internet Options window, there should be a tab named "Connections". Find it and click on it.
If your computer was previously connected to the internet, there will be other connections listed here in addition to the one you've just created for Mymethow. If you will no longer be using these other Internet service providers, please select them one at a time and remove them by clicking on the "Remove" button to the right. When you are done, you should have one connection left. If it is not already the default, please select the Mymethow Internet connection and click on the "Set as default" button.
The last step is to select "Always dial my default connection". This will instruct Internet Explorer and Outlook Express that they should dial your Mymethow Internet connection when you first open them.
Congratulations! You have successfully configured your computer for your Mymethow dial-up service.
