Use these instructions to configure your Windows Me based computer for Mymethow's dial-up Internet service.
Step 1: Begin by clicking on the start button, scrolling up to "Settings". Scroll over and down to "Dial-Up Networking" and click on it.
Step 2: If your computer is new or has never been configured for an Internet connection before, you will see the following screen. If you do not see this screen, please find the "Make new connection" button, double-click on it, and go to Step 3.
Click "Next" to continue.
Step 3: Enter mymethow for the name of the connection you will be creating, then select the modem you would like to use to connect to Mymethow in the drop-down dialog box. You will most likely have just one modem in your PC, so the default choice is probably the right one. Note: Your modem model may differ from what you see in the picture. This is normal, as there are many different modem manufacturers.
Click "Next" to continue.
Step 4: Enter Mymethow's access number, which is 997-2448, into the dialog box. Leave the area code box blank, as you will not need to dial it. Note: Enter the access number exactly as you see it, with no spaces.
Click "Next" to continue.
Step 5: Click the "Finish" button to exit the dial-up connection wizard. You should now be back at the "Dial-Up Networking" window.
Step 6: Find the dial-up connection that you just created. It will be named "mymethow". Right click on it, and a menu will pop up. Scroll down and click on "Properties".
Step 7: You should now see the connection properties window. Uncheck "Use area code and Dialing Properties".
Step 8: Click on the "Security" tab, and enter the username and password that you were given when you signed up into their appropriate dialog boxes. The username and password are case-sensitive, so you need to enter them exactly as they read on your sign-up sheet. Note: For security reasons, Windows will not display your password as you type it. Instead, you will see stars in place of the characters, so you must make sure to type it in correctly.
Step 8: Click on the "Dialing" tab, and check "This is the default Internet connection" and "Always dial my default connection". Uncheck "Enable idle disconnect" at the bottom. Once you are done, click "Ok" to exit the connection properties, then close the Dial-Up Networking window.
Congratulations! You have successfully configured your computer for your Mymethow dial-up service.
